Kurt is a California and Nevada registered architect with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture from Ohio State University, and a Master of Architecture degree from Harvard Graduate School of Design. A Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, Kurt has been recognized for “Notable contributions to architectural education.” He was the Director of Graduate Programs and Chair of the Graduate Program in Architecture at NewSchool of Architecture and Design; served as a NewSchool faculty member for 30 years, he has been a licensed architect for 40 years. He has twice been named NewSchool’s “Teacher of the Year;” and is the recipient of an AIA “Architectural Education Award.” Kurt has been a guest lecturer on topics including tall building design in San Diego, Los Angeles, London, Moscow and Jyvaskyla, Finland; he has also received numerous local, state and national awards for Design Excellence for Educational and Civil Projects.
