The San Pasqual Academy is a unique public-private partnership among The Child Abuse Prevention Foundation, the County of San Diego, charitable organizations, individual donors, and local businesses. As the first residential education campus for foster teens in the nation, San Pasqual Academy serves as a model for excellence in education, offering 250 youths the opportunity to learn academic, social, and life skills by providing them with the two things they most need: a quality education and a stable home.
The Academy consists of over 105,000 SF of renovated, reconfigured, seismically upgraded, and rebuilt space, designed among ten buildings, featuring three types of construction: wood-framed, concrete tilt-up, and masonry. Davy Architecture was selected as Architect-of-Record with two general contractors as design/build fast track teams under a Job Order Contract (JOC) administered by the County of San Diego‘s Project Management Services Branch. Working to a previously prepared budget and master plan for each of the existing structures of the old Seventh Day Adventist Academy, the entire effort was completed in just over one year.
